Let's talk Slang in Nepali
« on: October 27, 2017, 06:49:46 PM »
There is an interesting discussion going on about the origin of the word 'Bhalu' an urban slang.

https://forum.xnepali.net/index.php?topic=20390.0

I am compiling a list of slang words and their meanings. Please contribute by adding the meanings and more words.

1 - आँच (Aanch) - आँच ब्रो, के गरेको त्यस्तो?
Is similar to "Oh" in english, mild surprise, alarm etc. Perhaps, a degenerate of "Aas-char-ya" (surprise) -- Credit Northstar

2 - ब्रो (bro) - Short form of brother, but not only for boys, girls use it too to their girlfriends.

3 - जाँठा (Jatha)
Means - Male pubic hair. (credit Nortstar)

4 - भालु (Bhalu) - literally means bear. But, used to reference a loose girl or a prostitute.

5 - बोका - literally means a he-goat. Used to refer a guy who is always after a girl or girls (lecherous).
I have heard so many variations. I think the meaning depends on context. Sometimes it used like to mean woman chaser or like "saale" or a pimp.(Northstar)

6 - साले (Sale) -

7 गघा, कुकुर, सुंगुर - गधा जस्तो मुर्ख (गालि गर्ने शब्द)

८ कुकुर -  कुकुर जस्तो अर्काको लागी भुक्ने (गालि गर्ने शब्द)

९ सुंगुर -  सुंगुर जस्तो फोहरी (गालि गर्ने शब्द)

(I will do alphabetical sorting later.)
I think there has to be a sexual and non-sexual list. This list can be non-sexual and the next one sexual.

Did you notice some of the swear words at youswear.com ? Here are some examples that I though were irreverent but hilarious nonetheless  ;)
Quite obvious that author(s) is contemptuous of some ethnic and political groups so some of you may not like it  :'(  but hilarious nonetheless.

Dhoti            Dog shit
Kangres    Old man balls
Madhesi    Sister fucker
Prachanda    Pussy's juice
mandale    born from a gay's ass
maobadi    born from a whore's ass
pahadi    family fucker

Heh Heh  ;)

I'm guessing that
  आँच (Aanch)
is similar to "Oh" in english, mild surprise, alarm etc. Perhaps, a degenerate of "Aas-char-ya" (surprise)

जाँठा (Jatha)  I think it is male pubic hair. Not as commonly used as "maa-chikne" "muji" "saale" etc.

बोका  - I have heard so many variations. I think the meaning depends on context. Sometimes it used like to mean woman chaser or like "saale" or a pimp.

Maa-der-chod - is picking up too.
